At Orchard Knob Elementary, we want every student to arrive each day feeling comfortable, confident, and ready to learn. Our student dress code helps create a positive and respectful learning environment while promoting safety, reducing distractions, and keeping the focus on teaching and learning.

Families are encouraged to review the 2026–27 dress code together before purchasing school clothing. Thank you for helping your child begin each school day prepared for success.

Shirts and Outerwear

Students may wear any solid-colored collared shirt with long or short sleeves.

Students may also wear a solid-colored sweater or sweatshirt as outerwear. Hoodies may be worn while traveling to and from school, but they must be removed and hung up upon entering the classroom. Hoodies may not be worn inside the school building.

Pants, Skirts, Shorts, and Jumpers

Students may wear pants, skirts, shorts, or jumpers in the following colors:

Khaki, navy, gray, or black

Shorts, skirts, and jumpers must be approximately knee length. Tights may be worn underneath skirts or jumpers.

The following styles are not permitted:

  • Jeggings, leggings, or yoga pants worn as pants
  • Joggers, sweatpants, or running pants
  • Clothing with rips, tears, or holes

Clothing should fit appropriately and allow students to participate comfortably and safely throughout the school day.

Families needing an accommodation for religious, cultural, medical, or other documented reasons should contact the school administration.

Helping Your Child Prepare for School

A few simple routines can make mornings easier:

Choose school clothes the night before, check that shoes are safe and appropriate, and keep an extra dress-code-approved outfit available when possible. Families may also consider labeling sweaters, sweatshirts, and jackets with the student’s name, as these items are frequently left in classrooms or common areas.

Our Shared Commitment

The OKE Student Dress Code is designed to support a school environment where every child is known, valued, and empowered to thrive. When students arrive dressed appropriately, they are better prepared to focus, participate, and demonstrate our schoolwide commitment to Owning, Knowing, and Elevating.

School administration reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of a student’s attire. When a concern arises, families will be contacted so that the issue can be resolved as quickly and respectfully as possible.

Thank you for partnering with Orchard Knob Elementary as we prepare for another successful school year. Together, we are creating a safe, welcoming, and academically focused environment for every OKE Lion.

Owning. Knowing. Elevating. Together.
