Laura Cooper

I am the K-5 Reading Teacher here at OKES.  
I was born in Chattanooga and was a student at Lakeside Elementary (now Academy)
until my family moved to Georgia when I was in the 3rd grade.
After graduating from Cartersville (GA) High School, I received my Bachelor's degree from
Carson-Newman University and my Masters' Degree from Berry College.

I began my teaching career in Georgia and after my children were both in school, I began teaching at Barger Academy of Fine Arts.  I've taught Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades
and also served as a Hamilton County Literacy Coach before coming to OKES. 

I have a wonderful husband, two fantastic grown children (both graduates of CSAS),
 as well as two very fun dogs - Opal and Zeus.  
A typical weekend for us might find us eating our favorite food (Mexican),
watching our Netflix shows or a Braves game, traveling to Kentucky to see our daughter,
or hanging out with family and friends.  

I look forward to working with your amazing student at OKES!
