Graduated from Red Bank High School, Red Bank,Tennessee, 1980. 


After graduation from Tulane University in 1984, I began teaching Noncategorical Preschool Handicapped in the state of Louisiana.  I have taught Pre-K special education for the past 30 years and retired in May of 2014 and relocated back to my hometown of Chattanooga. 

2014-Present:  Teacher in Pre-K CDC classroom at Orchard Knob Elementary School in Chattanooga, TN.

1992-2014:  I taught in a pre-k blended classroom at Perrin Early Learning Center in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

1990-1992:  I taught special education preschool at Woodland Park Early Learning Center in Hammond, Louisiana.

1988-1990:  I taught in a self-contained preschool class at C. M. Fagan Special Services Center in Hammond, Louisiana.

1986-1988:  I taught noncategorical preschool at LeBlanc Special Services Center in Gonzales, Louisiana.

1984-1986:  I taught severe/profound pre-k students at LeBlanc Special Services Center in Gonzales, Louisiana.


I was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  I graduated from Red Bank High School in 1980.  After attending college in New Orleans, Louisiana, I began my career teaching pre-school age handicapped students and students with Developmental Disabilities.  I am married to J. J. Young and we have a total of six children, three boys and three girls ranging in age from 18-29 years.  We recently relocated back to Chattanooga and are happily raising our four dogs.
